De Pijp is often called the "Latin Quarter" of Amsterdam. In summer, its terraces are overflowing. But in winter, the neighborhood reveals a different, cozier side. It becomes a place of steaming market stalls and warm pubs.

1. Hot Stroopwafels at Albert Cuyp

The Albert Cuyp Market runs all year round. In February, the scent of hot caramel cuts through the cold air. Head to the Original Stroopwafels stand (look for the orange sign). Eating a freshly made, hot stroopwafel while walking the market is a peak Amsterdam experience.

2. A Winter Walk in Sarphatipark

Just behind the market lies Sarphatipark. It’s smaller than Vondelpark, but more intimate. In winter, the English landscape style gardens are quiet and peaceful. It’s the perfect place to eat that stroopwafel you just bought.

3. Warm Up in a Brown Bar

Café Gollem or Kingfisher

When the cold sets in, De Pijp has some of the best brown bars in the city. Café Gollem on Raamsteeg offers an incredible selection of winter beers (try a Bockbier). Kingfisher is a local favorite that feels like a living room.
